The Open Air Theater in the Vondelpark is the hotspot of the summer. Every weekend you will find special performances of music, theater, dance and cabaret in the green heart of the park. Free shows and concerts by famous artists and young talent.
All performances in the Vondelpark Open Air Theatre are freely accessible. This keeps the Vondelpark Open Air Theater the most accessible theater of Amsterdam. Director Frans de Vries: “We are there for the audience that cannot or does not always want to buy a ticket and for the artists who have yet to make their first big appearance. That makes our program special: on our stage emerging talent stands next to established names, for an audience of a hundred thousand people each summer. That doesn't happen anywhere else like this in Amsterdam.”

Program
The summer program follows the regular weekly schedule: Friday evening dance, Saturday afternoon family theater, Saturday evening comedy, Sunday morning classical and Sunday afternoon (pop) music. The program includes comedians Rayen Panday, Martijn Koning and Esther van der Voort, on classical Sunday morning the 50-piece Ying Wa Symphonic Band from Hong Kong and the finalists of the Grachtenfestival Conservatory Competition. Programmed for Saturday's family theater include ‘About a Little Mole Who Wants to Know Who Pooped on His Head’ (Mr. Monster) and ‘Skeleton’ (Big People).

Saturday and Sunday afternoons will feature music in the park including Jungle by Night, Vokall Live with Alain Clark and Isabel van Gelder. Other famous names sharing the city's most beautiful stage this summer include Kor Hoebe, Raoul Heertje, Julidans, Martijn Koning, Jordaan Fest, Dries Roelvink and Kwaku Downtown. The full program is on the website of the outdoor theater.
New this year: the famous Amsterdam chocolate and ice cream shop Van Soest will open a summer pop-up in the Open Air Café with artisanal scoop ice cream. Starting in June, the Open Air Café will be open during all program days. Proceeds from consumptions will benefit the theater.
